oh Hi! Today I’m going to show you another example of clothes enlargement .
I bought this dress in a thriftstore for 8 euros even if it was a little tight at the chest (and in the hope that it will make me want to lose weight). I immediately fell in love with the checkered fabric and told myself that a size was not so important. At first, I wore it with a t-shirt underneath and let the top open, but over time, I had to go to the obvious.
I then decided to enlarge it from the front.
One important thing when you want to enlarge a garment from the front and you have a strong chest (and without a zipper )is to choose an elastic fabric: you will be able to put on your garment easier.
With this in mind, I used a gray jersey fabric bought at the sales depot, in which I cut a trapezoid of the missing width between the buttons of the chest and I added 20cm to that width for the bottom of the skirt.
I removed the buttons but I did not hide the buttonhole (haha hope keeps me alive ) And I sewed the trapeze under the edges of the dress. If you have more than 10 cm to add to a garment, I advise you another technique because this one pulls at the armhole.
I like the wide collar effect of this dress and the circumference of the skirt, even if the slits of the dress are a little bit behind where it should be.
I know that this article is short and that there are no before pictures of the transformation but I think it is still good to know what happens when you modify a garment without thinking too much about it in advance. Here it is. have a good evening. Bye!
