La limandi

Hello you!
The summer of 2015, the year my blog was born, I sewed the shorts that I wear all the time in summer.
When I bought this fabric, a kind of super fine cotton veil, I did not know what to do with it yet. And when I needed shorts that keeps me fresh in summer and with which I was going to be able to go to work (with children), this fabric won the jackpot. I wanted something like sailors's shorts but I didn't want to add buttons (and especially buttonholes), at the time I had another sewing machine with a manual buttonhole that horrified me.

So I opted for darts, I was disappointed unrolling the fabric and discovering burning holes on it, which forced me to make out a puzzle to cut the pieces. I had no room for the belt so I used a wide elastic.
I used a contrasting thread to add fun to the project (and difficulty also since it is hard to keep straight when sewing with a contrasting thread).
In fact, I liked to do contrasting stitching since I am interested in fashion and couture. I had drawn a fashion line when I was 10 years old with a friend of that time and, already in this collection, contrasting thread was topical to me. I think it adds something to the garment.
I made rounded pockets with a double contrasting seam also.
As for the length of the leg, I decided that mid-thigh (or even more towards the knees) was a reasonable length, and I am rather satisfied.
Honestly, these shorts took me as long as pants, go and find out why ... I think it's because of the contrasting thread, but it turned out well.
The belt is perfectly wide as I like it, I am comfortable in it (neither too hot nor too cold) and I can run after the children (although I only do it in case of an emergency). It goes with many of my clothes because of its color, it is not too short not too long: in summer I like to be comfortable without looking slutty, especially around children, nor transparent despite the fineness of the fabric. In short, I love it.
That's all for this little shorts. I take this opportunity to remind you that my shop is open (you can access it directly at the top of the page) and that you can always follow me on facebook, snapchat, youtube and instagram (insert links). Bye!
